We would be glad to help you with the issue you are facing today. I understand the difficulty with the problem.

The WIA platform enables imaging/graphics applications to interact with imaging hardware and standardizes the interaction between different applications and scanners. This allows those different applications to talk to and interact with those different scanners without requiring the application writers and scanner manufactures to customize their application or drivers for each application-device combination.

As WIA is the inbuilt services in windows 10, there is no drivers to install or download.

I would suggest you to check the, if the service in enable or disable.

Follow the below steps to check.

  1. Press Windows key +R, type “services.msc”
  2. Locate the Windows Image Acquisitionand check if it is turned as automatic.
  3. If not, right click on the service and click start to start the service.

I have tried the 3 steps suggested and my Windows Image Acquisition is set to automatic yet it still won't scan. I did actually scan yesterday successfully without any issues or set-up required other than connecting via wireless to my printer/scanner.

Guidance here would be appreciated

Before assisting further, did you check if the status is set to running under Windows Image Acquisition service?

Check if the service is running by following the steps below:

  1. Press Windows logo key on the keyboard, type Services and select the top most search result.
  2. Locate Windows Image Acquisition services and check if the status shows running in the window.
  3. If the status space is empty, it means the service is not running. I suggest you to start the service by highlighting the service and clicking on the Start service icon located on the menu bar at the top of the window.
  4. Close the window and check if the changes are effective.

I am using a SP3. I just upgraded to W10 and am using Corel Photo Paint X3. When I go to scan a document from Corel, it does not offer the option - it had given that error. I just tried it again - no error but it does not do anything..

Sorry that doesn't work if WIA isn't one the list of services reported from running services.msc. And you did not answer the question as to where or if the WIA driver can be downloaded.
